Retro Days…
I was in the car the other day and hanging with my brother and a friend when as soon as I got in the car, I was tossed back into yesteryear. The music was pumping, and when I mean pumping…my heart valves are clear of any obstructions. The bass was amazing, the clarity of music was amazing and this very event sparked me to write this and “jar” your memory of years past.
Rides
I can admit, I was that guy who would wake you up in the middle of your nap. I remember when I was the ticket(s) holder for U2 at Foxboro Stadium before it became Gillette Stadium and U2 was here for the Zooropa Tour and the decision was made…let’s head to Foxboro in my Toyota SR5 Xtracab because I had the Alpine with the Bass Box. That was a great time and one that my brother accompanied me to, along with many friends to that show.
Hitting the road now…
Knowing the the current day GTI that I own could be built up, I think the next step for me is to upgrade the stereo in the car. I wish I was in that red one above, cause the 16V GTI was and still is a Classic. In my current 2003 the stereo is equipped with a tape deck and the CD player, but no Aux jack to plug in my iPod so that I can listen to RAR.
When I get in situations that bring back the good ole times, I tend to want to relive them. I have one good thing working for me…I have all my old equipment, so upgrading won’t be a costly issue to get the music flowing with some heavy bass lines working soon enough.
I will update progress on the “Yellow Cheetah” (as we call her) as it gets started in future postings of “When Random Hits the Road.”
