Heading to the next level…
Random Access Radio and my Broadcasting or Podcasting career (Whichever you choose) reached new heights this past week. I have been going non stop for the past 4 years. I started this gig in the summer of 2006 with a live round table discussion that lasted over 80 episodes and also did a sports themed show as well. After the 80+ episodes were done I decided to take a break and I wanted to do something different. I looked back at the podcasts that I did with Sound Check and realized that the overall theme was music. We played it in every show. New music, Classics, and even some stuff that you have never heard before. I became friends with an Indie band from France/UK and played their stuff on the round table show as well, all to spread the word that I loved music. It was at the break that this all clicked.
Where I made the decision…

It was 2 months off and Sound Check became “Sound Check with CK” and the music podcast was born. after 20+ episodes of SC, I had always had this desire to put the music out there live and uncut. I wanted the full enchilada…interaction with fans and friends of the show. I wanted to play high quality Rock and Roll and mix in the stuff that we all love but can’t get on a genre specific channel on the radio. Random Access Radio was born. It has been going live on Tuesday nights for the past 9 months and getting better every week with the requests to the new fans that are being introduced to the show from the existing fans. It is all about the interaction and RAR is doing that. We are live every Tuesday night starting at 8:30 pm EST with “The Green Room” and then the main show is done live and recorded (as you will hear here) at 9:15 pm EST.
Thank you
…to all the friends that have been here through the ups and downs of all the show. It means the world to me to have you involved in this project. From the people that have been here and gone, I thank them as well because this is a complete learning experience from start till now and it is each and every week. Without all of you that have either walked the trail with me, or have walked part of the way and got off, thank you for your input to my passion.
With that, I will now leave you with a mix that was ultimately incredible. From Classics, to New Music to Texas Rock to a “mini album side” thrown in…it was unreal. Some of the picks that I put in this week will spur your memory of years past and others will have you belting it out like we do while the show is being recorded. Have fun, enjoy the tunes and leave a comment.
Rock on,
CK
